Mercedes-Benz CL-Class (2000-2006) W215

The second-generation chassis of the CL is the W215 coupe produced from 1999 to 2006. Based on the W220 Mercedes-Benz S-Class launched in late 1998 in Europe, the W215 rides on an 8-inch shorter wheelbase, and was offered in four models types: the V8-powered CL 500; the naturally aspirated V8 CL55 AMG, the supercharged V8 CL55 AMG; and from 2000-2002, the naturally aspirated V12-powered CL 600. In addition, the CL-Class featured a limited production (about 200 per year worldwide) 5.5L V12 Bi-Turbo CL600 from 2003 to 2006; and the very rare limited-edition naturally-aspirated CL63 AMG (26 models only); the naturally-aspirated CL55 AMG F1 Edition (55 models only); and the 6.0L V12 Bi-Turbo CL65 AMG (196 models from 2004-2006). Every CL coupe came equipped with the latest Mercedes-Benz technology at the time, including refined Active Body Control fully active suspension system and Bi-Xenon HID lights. Active Body Control utilizes four hydraulic suspension rams that use three pressure regulators connected to a combination power steering and suspension pump, pushing fluid at a pressure of 2,960 psi through the system in concert with several intermediate computers and master CPU keeps the CL absolutely flat through the corners. Standard features include climate control, ABC (hydraulic) suspension, all-leather interior, designer wood trim, trip computer, CD audio, navigation system, heated front seats, power moonroof, as well as power door and trunk closing assist. Optional features include a heated steering wheel and voice-activated telephone, as well as, front fan-cooled and heated seats.
