Engineered and manufactured by Mini between 2011 and 2015, the Mini Coupe and Mini Roadster were two-seater sports cars from the U.K.-based division of BMW. Based on the Mini Cabriolet, the Coupe (internally designated R58) went on sale in October of 2011. The Coupe followed a similar pattern to other Mini models, featuring Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper SD, and the range-topping John Cooper Works (JCW). The JCW version accelerated from 0 to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph thanks to a turbocharged 208 hp 1.6L inline four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with the option of automatic on all but the JCW. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009 as a concept and formally launched at the Detroit North American International Auto Show in January 2012, the Mini Roadster is the soft-top convertible version of the Coupe. Similar to the Coupe, the Roadster featured a range of models, and 1.6L engines featuring various levels of output power.
