The kit is well designed but, in my opinion, overpriced. No instructions are included, so you have to search the internet or simply figure out how to do the repair. Including instructions in the kit would be helpful.

Perfect! Exactly what I needed! Had to drill 2 holes in box. But, worked perfectly.

Good Fix

This is a good solution for the broken hinge. Installation takes a bit of time and care and a pop-rivet tool, but it's well worth the trouble.

Streight forward, easy project

My 911 had the typical oddement tray hinge problem. (Plastic hinge broken) The new metal hinge fit perfectly and only took 15 to 2o minutes to complete. Tools needed, screw driver, scraper (wood chisel) pop rivet tool. Remove lid, chisel, file off broken hinge, drill 2 holes pop rivet on hinge with supplied rivets ( tool not provided) and pit lid back on and yoir done, just that easy

Great fix...but exactly how the re-engineered hinge fits isn't initially obvious. This photo adequately explains how everything should be installed. You will almost definitely need a file and a rivet gun the kit comes with the rivets needed to secure the hinge.

Boxster Hinge Repair

This worked perfectly on my 98 Boxster, even though it is only listed for 996 models. It isn't immediately obvious how to install this, but do a google search for "oddments box repair" and you will find the official Porsche instructions. The results is a professional looking and solid hinge.

I was nervous about drilling into the console of a car I had just purchased and was in great shape but the instruction sheet was great and the part fit perfect. It is a great permanent fix for a problem that appeared to be problematic to this vehicles console. Anyone else who has this problem can rest assured it works great, and for much less than than a new console.

Perfect Fix

The job is simple. Just follow the included instructions and take your time. You will have to drill two holes to fasten the hinge to the console. Line everything up perfect before drilling. You can offset the armrest slightly to where you will have to adjust the door to latch properly. Other than that, a very durable well built part.
