The BMW E85 Z4 is a sports car available in both roadster and coupe versions produced from 2002 to 2008. It replaced the highly popular BMW Z3 model and was the 3rd generation of the Z designation.
The Z4 models are larger and have a stiffer chassis but weighed less than their predecessor by the use of lightweight materials. All Z4 models were produced in the United States and were available with a number of 4-cyl and V6 engines ranging from 148 hp to 261 hp.
In 2006 the Z4 M versions were released in both coupe and roadster variants. Both models included the same S54 straight six engine shared with the E46 M3 generating 330 hp. Z4 M models also included hydraulic power steering, wider front track, redesigned front suspension, and wider tires.
