BMW 1600, 2002 (1967-1976) Cylinder Head & Valvetrain - Rocker Arms
Rocker Arms and Shafts
Rocker arms transfer the energy from the camshafts and/or pushrods, to the valves. One end is moved by the camshaft and/or pushrod, while the other side moves the valve stem - physically moving the valve up and down.

Rocker Arms

The rocker arm is used to actuate the opening of either the intake or exhaust valve. It is essentially a pivot operated by either the camshaft lobe or a pushrod.
